Montongo Roads is her way of paying homage to the culture that influenced her worldview of community, empathy, justice, hope, and love. "I take Montongo with me everywhere I go. I wrote Montongo Roads in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Writing grounded me and reminded me never to forget the lessons I learned on the dirt roads of my childhood community," Price said. Price acknowledges that the "Black in America" narrative is often associated with urban, but Black and rural experiences also need to be shared. She starts this book with some of her rural experiences, and then she moves to the pain she's felt from racial injustice. She closes the book with poems filled with hope. Price tells illuminating stories through her poetry style. Her poems have a distinct rhythm that is heavily influenced by the language she heard in Montongo. Published by Bridge Builders Group, Montongo Roads opens with a poem with the same name. The book includes "The Lake," a poem about rural gentrification, "Return," a poem about American violence, and "In Spite of People," a poem about resilience. Montongo Roads is a 51-page poetry book. Available in paperback with a retail price of $12.95. ISBN 9780578769783. Published by Bridge Builders Group, LLC. Available now through all major retailers.
