Nepal is open for tourists traveling via air; Land border remain closed

Foreign are now free to travel Nepal by air, as per the recent notice from Department in Immigration. The land border remain closed.
KATHMANDU, Nepal - Dec. 14, 2020 - PRLog -- Department of Immigration has notified that foreigners can now visit Nepal by air, however, the land border entry/exit points remain closed.

All foreigners must obtain tourist visa from Nepal diplomatic missions abroad or else should have a pre-approval, recommendation letter from the concerned ministries to be able to obtain on-arrival Nepal visa. On-arrival visa will only be provided to foreigners working at the diplomatic mission in Nepal, international organisations and their family members or foreign passport holders with Nepali origin. Pre-COVID, foreigners from most of the countries could obtain on arrival visa at Kathmandu airport.

All travelers must produce a negative COVID-19 report (RT-PCR/gene Xpert/True NAAT or equivalent) obtained 72 hours prior their departure from origin port but the protocol is relaxed for children below 5 years.

All the travelers should follow health and safety protocol of the government.

Issuance of tourist visa from diplomatic mission abroad are resumed.
