Defeating Heart Failure with Technology Powered by AI

We are on a mission to globally empower primary healthcare professionals to diagnose heart failure by remote acquisition of echocardiography images followed by centralised AI reporting, eliminating delays in diagnosis and improving access to care.

BANGALORE, India - Nov. 21, 2020 - PRLog -- The global burden of Heart Failure was estimated to be 64 million patients with a  larger number of patients undiagnosed with this disease. Of all deaths in the world, 30% are a result of heart failure[3]. Responsible for 1-2% of a country's healthcare expenditure, the socio-economic burden of this disease is immense for any country, especially in the developing world, where a projected 80% of patients reside.

Due to the difficulty in diagnosing HF, there is a two and half year delay from the onset of symptoms to the start of effective treatment, even in the best health care systems[6]. As a result, 46% of patients with HF have worsening symptoms and are diagnosed with HF during their first admission[7] and carry a worse prognosis. Early initiation of HF therapy[8] and timely and accurate diagnosis at the primary health care setting remains the key to improving the lives of millions worldwide.

The single most useful test to diagnose Heart Failure is Echocardiography. This is the only test where the diagnosis of HF, the cause, severity and prognosticate HF. It can be used to start appropriate treatment as well as monitor the effectiveness of the therapy on followup[9]. Echocardiography is thus the gold standard for diagnosing heart failure.

The unmet need for echocardiography to diagnose heart failure is highlighted by the fact that the median time from the presentation with symptoms to investigations was 292 days (IQR 34–844)[6]. The impact in resource-constrained regions is significantly greater because echocardiography is not universally available in most hospitals[12].

Tricog Health, one of the world's largest predictive healthcare analytics firms, is on a war to bring the global burden of Heart Failure under control. Tricog empowers health care professionals at clinics and hospitals around the world to diagnose heart failure by enabling remote acquisition of Echocardiography images followed by a centralised AI-powered reporting, eliminating delays in diagnosis and improving access to care.
