The Human Costs of Rejecting Science

AESA Highlights Three Life-Threatening Issues with the Present Administration's Responses to the Pandemic

GLENDALE, Calif. - Oct. 22, 2020 - PRLog -- In light of the recent crises that face our planet, the current US Administration has fallen far short of embracing science-based strategies to address life-threatening realities such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and global warming.  The Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America (AESA) summarizes below three critical, ongoing, life-threatening issues, along with the present Administration's responses.

(1)  The American people have been misled on the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic. They were not told in early-January (2020) that a pandemic was afoot when that information was clearly available and publicized by foreign and domestic health agencies. Rather, the public was given erroneous or incomplete data meant to trivialize and horizon the reality and severity of the virus.

(2) The American people were not convincingly forewarned as to the efficiency of COVID-19's transmission through touch and airborne contact. This despite the detailed studies and warnings of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and the Johns Hopkins University's random-walk simulations for the person-to-person transmission in (for example) unmasked and crowded campaign crowds and White House Lawn gatherings. Such continuous, deliberate behavior has sadly prolonged and intensified the virus, resulting in more than 220,000 American deaths (to date).

(3) The US Administration has disregarded all science-based warnings of the ongoing and oncoming global-warming crisis. It has withdrawn the USA from the Paris Climate Accord; has ignored the increasing CO2 in the atmosphere resulting in world-wide record temperatures; has expanded the use of fracking for extracting fossil fuels; is exploiting the Arctic; and has ignored rising ocean levels (clearly detected by NASA satellites) from Manhattan to the Marshall Islands. And this year we've run out of English names for the increased number of US hurricanes.

These horrific, global crises have arisen, and have been ignored, or only feebly confronted. It is critical that present and future US Administrations have an animated, in-depth scientific outlook. The life of Planet Earth depends on it.
