Childhood Vaccinations Still Required, Legal Services Can Help
By: Legal Services of Eastern Missouri
According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the 2020-2021 Missouri School Immunization Requirements must be up-to-date and "students must present documentation of the immunization status."
"Upon investigation, we have confirmed that children must still have current vaccinations even if they are attending school virtually," said Geoff Oliver of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri.
Routine childhood vaccinations are needed to help children stay safe and healthy.
According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, as of April 2020 vaccinations for children age 18 and younger were down by nearly 50 percent compared to the previous year.
"If families need help accessing health care for their children, including vaccinations, Legal Services can help," stated attorney Oliver." As schools re-open, we want to remind families that Legal Services is a resource for you and your children during these troubling times," he added.
"Services for families and children include free health insurance enrollment help for families eligible for no-cost or low-cost health insurance and help with issues with Missouri's Managed Care Medicaid (MO HealthNet) programs."
