Potential Exposure Risks to 1,3-Butadiene Discussed in New Online Video

"1,3-Butadiene is produced through the processing of petroleum and is mainly used in the production of synthetic rubber, although it is also found in smaller amounts in plastics and fuel," said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates and the IAQ Video Network. "Exposure mainly occurs in the workplace and can cause everything from irritation to the eyes, throat, nose and lungs, to damage to the central nervous system according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency classifies 1,3-butadiene as a known human carcinogen. We hope this video helps to shed some light on the importance of protecting workers from exposure risks to this, and other, potential occupational hazards."
