Life In Rhythm Media Announces "I Can't Breathe" Bashiri Johnson's New Video & Single

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - June 18, 2020 - PRLog -- Debuting on Juneteenth – the NEW, New York State holiday to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States (June 19, 1865), "I Can't Breathe," is the first single and video from the forthcoming album SPEAK on Life In Rhythm Media.

Produced and written by Bashiri Johnson, world-renowned percussionist, known for his work with Whitney, MJ, Madonna, Miles Davis, and others, has brought together Co-writer, Poet, Emcee and Activist Messiah Ramkissoon, vocalist Minister Wendy Williams, an emerging singer and Reverend, and guitarist Vernon Reid, lead of rock band Living Colour. Video is directed by Kaya Bailey of Luminous Velocity.
With powerful lyrics, gospel inspired vocals, piano keys, Afro percussion, contemporary programming, and the funkiest rock filled guitar solo and licks, "I Can't Breathe" is expressing what most Black people are feeling at this time;  a need to call on ally communities to stand with BIPOC for transformation, integrity, and justice in this country.
These are revolutionary times. Times that call for reevaluation, re-imagining, reinvention, and redirection.  With the whole world speaking out for change, the message of "I Can't Breathe" is clear: "I can't breathe, cuz you're chokin me, we just wanna breathe".
The single is mixed by Darren Moore, recorded at The Lab-Brooklyn, videography is provided by Kaya Bailey, and graphic design by Sharon Seidl.
