AdvisorSmith Discovers the Safest Cities in America

NEW YORK - June 9, 2020 - PRLog -- AdvisorSmith, a leading information resource for business advice and original research, released a new study that found the safest cities in the United States.

Living in safe communities is essential for individuals looking for areas to move and rent. Still, it's also vital for business owners to decide where to start and expand their business.

This study included a total of 3,383 cities; their safety rank was determined based upon their crime score. The crime score was determined using a database from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Data Set. From the data, we examined crime rates in each municipality for violent and property crimes. A proprietary crime score was created, which weighed violent and property crimes based upon the severity of the crime.

The cities were also categorized by size to find the top 10 small, midsize, and large safest cities.

Interesting findings:

• Broadview, Ohio, was the #1 safest small city in the United States. The small suburb of Cleveland has a population of 19,000 and had very little crime. Of the top 20 small cities, four were in Ohio.

• California dominated the safest midsize cities list, as 5 out of the top 10 cities were located in the state. Also, California had 22 of the safest medium-sized cities out of the top 50. Fifteen of those cities are located in Southern California.

• Western states were the majority of the largest safest cities. Thirteen of the top 25 cities were in AZ, CA, CO, and NV.
