GeoDataSource announce the release of 2 new location search web services

Location Search API and Neighboring Countries API is released by GeoDataSource
SARASOTA, Fla. - April 27, 2020 - PRLog -- GeoDataSource is glad to announce the release of 2 new web services (REST APIs), enabling users to query the proximity information of countries. They are the Location Search API and Neighboring Countries API. GeoDataSource has been the market leader in offering the comprehensive world major cities database since 2001. Over the years, we kept receiving requests from many users for ways to find the nearest cities and this reason has inspired us to develop the Location Search API, and later the [Neighboring Countries API. The API was first released in 2018 as a free version with a monthly query limit. Since its introduction, we have received many requests for higher query limits, therefore numerous plans have been introduced to cater to the needs of each individual.

We have 2 endpoints for the Location Search API, namely the /city and /cities. The /city API will return the nearest city based on the given latitude and longitude. And, the /cities, as the name implies, will return a list of the nearest city within a 20km radius. In the return params, you will get the information such as country, region, city, latitude, longitude, currency_code, currency_name, currency_symbol, sunrise, sunset, time_zone and distance_km. It's a comprehensive set of information that should be sufficient, based on our positive feedback, for virtually most development needs. Furthermore, it's a REST API, a technology that can be easily integrated in any programming languages for your project. And, it's free if you only require 500 checking per month. You can visit to learn more.

For the Neighboring Countries API, it will return the land bordered countries when you supply a country code for lookup. In other words, if the countries are divided by water, they are not considered to be a neighbor country in this listing. The returned information consists of the country code and country name. GeoDataSource has been adopting the ISO3166-1 standard for the country code and name, so that it removes user's friction when integrating their projects into other open sources or projects. Also, this API is free if you have less than 500 queries per month. Learn more at
