FraudLabs Pro Introduces ISP Name Validation Rule to Strengthen Online Fraud Detection

The ISP Name Validation is the process of verifying the Internet Service Provider (ISP) name linked to a visitor's IP address. It allows merchants to verify whether a transaction originates from a trusted residential or corporate network, or from suspicious sources such as data centers, hosting providers, or anonymizer services. By identifying these network patterns, businesses can better detect risky behaviors and enforce stronger fraud rules.

How the ISP Name Validation Rule Works

The ISP Name Validation Rule allows merchants to automatically approve, reject or manually review transactions based on the ISP associated with the visitor's IP address. This includes identifying:

• Hosting providers and cloud data centers which are commonly used for bot attacks or stolen card testing
• Proxies, VPNs, and anonymizer networks which are used to mask fraudulent behavior
• Legitimate residential and corporate ISPs that typically indicate trustworthy users

By leveraging this insight, businesses can fine-tune their fraud filters, strengthen identity verification processes, and prevent chargebacks before they occur.

Availability

The ISP Name Validation Rule is now available to merchants on the Small plan and above via the Rules Management page. Simply add the ISP Name Validation Rule to your rule management page and save it.
