By: Shield Republic O'Connor, who had served as a police officer for more than 23 years, was posthumously given the rank of sergeant. He was 46 years old. On April 9, Shield Republic Charities presented a check for $8,005.15 to Sgt. O'Connor's family. Funds raised represent net proceeds from the sale of commemorative tees, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, ladies' tank tops and decals honoring the fallen officer. The Philadelphia Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) officer sacrificed his life on March 13, after he was shot in the shoulder while serving a homicide warrant at a home in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood. "While nothing can remove the sting of this terrible loss, we take comfort in the show of support from people around the country who helped raise funds for Sgt. O'Connor's family," said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. "We are honored to be able to make a donation honoring Sgt. O'Connor's legacy by supporting his family."
