SMITHFIELD, N.C. - June 19, 2020 - PRLog -- A third-generation police officer killed yesterday in a car accident in Brentwood, Tennessee will be honored with a special apparel fundraiser to support his bereaved family.

Officer Destin Legieza of the Brentwood Police Department is the latest first responder to be honored with a "Hold the Line" fundraiser from American lifestyle brand Shield Republic. Through the campaign, the company will sell commemorative t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, ladies' tank tops and decals recognizing the service and sacrifice of the fallen officer. All net proceeds will be donated to the Legieza family at the conclusion of the campaign.

Officer Legieza, age 30, was killed while on duty and nearing the end of his shift around 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 18. He was driving southbound on Franklin Road near Turner Farm and Brentwood Market when a woman traveling northbound crossed the center line, colliding with Officer Legieza's cruiser. The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the accident.

The crash is currently being investigated.

Officer Legieza, whose father and grandfather both worked in law enforcement, had served with the Brentwood Police Department for five years. He is survived by his wife, Heather.

"At Shield Republic, we wanted to offer a tribute to this rising star with the Brentwood Police Department," said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. "Our Hold the Line campaign for Officer Destin Legieza's family honors a young hero known for making a big impact during his short tenure as a law enforcement hero."
