March 27, 2020 - PRLog -- Thousands of people in every city are having to transition their traditional office jobs to a work from home setting and many people are finding it's not as easy as they thought it would be. Whether you are in self-isolation or your office has decided to close for the safety of the employees, here are some tips to help make the adjustment a little easier.

1.      GET READY FOR WORK
Get up in the morning at the time you usually would for work and get ready like normal. Have a shower, groom, do your hair and get dressed in work clothes. Pack your snacks and lunch. We are creatures of habit and routines mean more to us than we realize. Keeping your usual workday morning routine will help to normalize the situation a bit and get you into the headspace of starting a productive day. Likewise, at the end of the day do what you normally would when you get home. Change into your stretch pants, put your hair up (or down), and anything else you would usually do upon getting home from work.

2.      HAVE A COMMUTE
Still having a hard time moving from home mode into work mode? Finding yourself sitting on the couch drinking another cup of coffee and browsing cute hedgehog pictures when you should be opening your laptop? A lot of people new to working from home have trouble creating protected time for working and find their weekend routines seeping into their weekdays. One trick is to create a commute for yourself! Once you have gotten yourself ready for work (see tip #1) find a way to leave your home headspace and head into a work frame of mind. This can be by actually going outside for a walk around the block or a 5 minute drive, or if you are unable to go outside find yourself a quiet space and meditate for a few minutes. Once your commute is done re-enter your space as if it is now your office. Stay professional, stay engaged, and behave like you would normally in your work environment. At the end of the day repeat the process for your commute home, giving you a clear end to your day and helping to keep a strong divide between your on and off work hours.
