TORONTO - March 18, 2020 - PRLog -- THE WOMENS FREEDOM SONG CONTEST sought to find the best female anthems, "indie" music videos and short docs (under ten minutes) from around the world. (All genders were invited and participated).

WINNERS (SONGS, MUSIC VIDEOS AND DOCUMENTARY SHORT WINNERS) were announced on March 8, International Womens Day. The winners projects dealt with issues such as domestic violence, self confidence, missing and murdered Indigenous women, throwing off society's expectations and supporting one another.

Please check out the winners and show them some media love if you can. Our oldest winner was 87 yr old Gladys Thaxton!!! who submitted a song poem called "Be Proud Women." Winners came from around the world, two honourable mentions in the music video category hailed from India and France.

The winning song went to Rebeccah Jay (Nelems) hailing from Victoria, BC (Canada) with her song "Stealing Me Back." 3rd Place Music video by Emily Fennell for the song Hold Back the River was shot at Kingston Penitentiary.  Second Place Music Video song for "Fearless" gives 10% of all streaming and digital sales to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA to stop violence against Native Women.
