| Property as Part of $300M Gina Champion-Cain Fraud Case Being Auctioned OffBy: Cal Auctions This online-only auction starts closing on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Items in this auction include Swell coffee, brand new clothing, fashion accessories, and more. The auction is hosted by Cal Auctions, a San Diego-based auction house that specializes in estate and business liquidations. Gina Champion-Cain was the owner of Swell Coffee, which was just one property of many in a large portfolio of restaurants located throughout San Diego County. In late 2019, the Securities and Exchange Commission accused Champion- Cain and her investment company of operating a $300 million scheme that defrauded around 50 investors. There were several Swell Coffee locations in San Diego that were destinations for the community to find locally crafted coffee. The company also operated a large boutique roasting warehouse in Point Loma. "It's unfortunate that this has happened to a San Diego business. We will do our best to aid in liquidating all of the property on behalf of the receiver in this court case," says Jason Hanks, President of Cal Auctions. An inspection day of all the items up for auction will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 10AM-2PM at the Cal Auctions warehouse located at 4514 Federal Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92102.
