New Simulation Department set to deliver performance improvement opportunities for heavy industry

SOUTH BRISBANE, Australia - Feb. 12, 2020 - PRLog -- With growing interest in Digital Twin technology and the use of simulation to solve complex problems within the heavy industry sector, Polymathian have launched a new Simulation Department to strengthen our capability and approach to providing long-term value for our clients.

Polymathian is a leading provider of Industrial Mathematics solutions using optimisation, simulation, machine learning and statistics to deliver significant benefits for clients from industries such as mining, energy, shipping, rail and logistics.

The new Simulation team will be headed up by Colin Eustace, whose work over the past 15+ years has been focused on using simulation to identify opportunities for performance improvements through equipment upgrades, process improvements and computational optimisation, with specific expertise in resource supply chains and bulk materials handling applications.

Working with one of Australia's largest bulk materials handling terminals, Colin has recently facilitated a 12% improvement in performance through a series of low capital plant modification and process improvements. He has also assisted Australia's largest underground gold mine to reach target production over the next decade using a detailed simulation model of the mine to identify future operational constraints.

Colin's expertise and rigorous approach to complex operational analysis has been demonstrated throughout his career as a lead on major projects across a broad spectrum of industries. From modelling coal export terminals and rail networks to evaluate current and future capacity, to helping identify resource requirements and schedule completion times to move The Royal Children's Hospital and Mater Children's Hospitals into the new Lady Cilento Children's Hospital on a single day prior to its opening in 2014.

Colin joins the Polymathian team as we continue to see increased interest from clients and industry stakeholders in the benefits of simulation and its ability to digitally mirror real-world scenarios, allowing us to adapt our solutions for any business experiencing complex operational problems.

Polymathian's Director, Jonathon White said "Simulation is commonly used to observe complex operational behaviour in a digital twin system before actioning in the real world. Our simulation offerings complement our suite of optimisation tools, allowing us to test scenarios prior to implementation. Bringing someone with Colin's expertise in to manage this area will allow us to consider new simulation solutions, provide ongoing support, and deliver enhanced value for our client base."
