Circus Harmony Adds to its International Acclaim

Artistic/Executive Director honored at Monte Carlo's World Circus Federation

ST. LOUIS - Jan. 15, 2020 - PRLog -- Circus Harmony's Artistic/Executive Director, Jessica Hentoff, is heading to Monte Carlo this week at the invitation of Zsuzsanna Mata, the head of the World Circus Federation (WCF), to be part of the creation of a Global Alliance of Circus Schools. On two previous visits to the city, she spoke to the WCF's European Circus Association on the topic of using Circus Arts to motivate social change in 2009 and was invited back in 2011 to be the first-ever social circus judge to serve at the Monte Carlo Circus Festival and to speak at a luncheon hosted by Princess Stephanie on the topic of the importance of connecting the growing youth circus movement with professional circuses.

Hentoff was also recently named as the recipient of the 2020 Youth Development Practitioner Award by the Youth Learning Institute. She will receive this award during the US Play Coalition's 2020 Conference on the Value of Play at Clemson University, March 29 to April 1.

Not only is Circus Harmony's director being recognized internationally, her students are also staking their claim across the globe. Last month four alumni performed around the world with Cirque du Soleil, one is touring with Circa Contemporary Circus of Australia, another can be seen on the high wire with The Flying Wallendas, and several are attending circus colleges in different countries.

Circus Harmony's new show - Fluente, An Underseas Circus Adventure (https://circusharmony.org/) - opens this week at City Museum where it will be performed January 18, 19, 25, and 26 with Saturday shows at 2 and 7pm and Sunday shows at 2pm. Fluente will amaze people of all ages and features their current advanced students accompanied by a live band under the direction of Webster University Department of Music Chair, Jeffrey Carter. Want to run away and join the circus? They are accepting students of all ages for their spring classes which start at the end of January. They offer everything from juggling and tumbling to trapeze with the addition of a new Adult Basic Circus Arts class. Information and registration is online at CircusHarmony.org.
