Follow on Google News | Local Olympic Fencer Monica Aksamit Brings Home Real Gold From PeruGold comes in many forms; this time it came with 4 legs and his name is ORO.
By: Black Diamond PR Firm Ms. Aksamit is a resident of Morganville New Jersey and has two passions in life. One is being an Olympic fencing medalist and the other is being an animal rescue adoption advocate. As a active promoter of animal rescue, she walks the talk. She has two other dogs at home, Pongo and Nala. Ms. Aksamit met Oro one afternoon while visiting the sites of Aguas Calientes Peru. Dogs seem to have a knack for finding the animal lover in the crowd. Oro made a bee line for the young athlete. They enjoyed some serious cuddle time, a lap nap and a few snacks. The bonds of imprinting are stronger than the young fencer realized. When it was time to leave, Oro refused to let her go. He wrapped his paws around her legs and pulled on her jacket with his teeth to keep her with him. This brought tears to Monica's eyes and she couldn't stop thinking about that homeless dog all the way back to their hotel. The very next day, she set out on a mission to bring Oro home with her to the US. She enlisted the aid of a dear friend in the rescued pet world, Joanna Krupa who in turn recruited the organizations of Animal Hope & Wellness and Pet Wings to aid in the project. Oro is set to arrive in forever home of Morgansville on Thursday, August 29th. Monica has not seen him since she left him in Peru under the care of the vet while he served out his quarantine. A homecoming full of treats, dog toys and lots of love cuddles will be waiting for him.
