By: Eat Black Owned Food
ATLANTA - Aug. 20, 2019 - PRLog -- There are over 2 million African American Businesses in the U.S..  However, only 8% of restaurant owners in the U.S. are African American.  The need to support these businesses is important for economic growth.

Black Restaurant Week allows black owned restaurants the opportunity to bring in new customers, and raise awareness by putting a spotlight on these businesses.  BRW which originally started in Houston, is coming to Atlanta on September 1 - September 15, 2019, to celebrate the 3rd Annual Culinary Fest.  Visit the Atlanta Black Restaurant Week website, for more info.

BRW is one of the many events to help promote black owned restaurants.  But what about the eateries that do not attend BRW events?

With so many black owned restaurants in the Atlanta area, it is not always easy to find them all.  Luckily, there is a newly launched website to help solve this problem. is a nationwide guide for black owned restaurants.  The website features 77 listings around Atlanta, and over 2000 nationwide.

I recently spoke with the owner of Eat Black Owned Food, Edward L Dillard, about creating  He stated that he designed the website because "he wanted everyone to be able to easily find all the black owned restaurants in the country".  He adds "the internet is not much help.  Google only displays a few black owned businesses.   And most of the other directories on the internet only had listings in major cities.  I wanted to focus on the smaller towns, as well as the big cities".

Finding black owned restaurants across the country has never been easier.  Visit to search for black owned restaurants in your town.
