The District of Columbia (DCSBDC) launches DCSBDCImpact19 Campaign Highlighting Small Businesses

Campaign Launch Highlights Small Businesses in the District and the Economic Impact of the DCSBDC

WASHINGTON - Aug. 23, 2019 - PRLog -- The DCSBDC network, the only District-wide, nationally accredited program that provides consulting, training and information resources to empower new and existing businesses is launching a new initiative called DCSBDCImpact19, to highlight small business owners and empower emerging entrepreneurs.

Through the DCSBDCImpact19 Campaign, the DCSBDC will highlight the impact of small business in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan region.  The campaign will initially highlight four small business for which the DCSBDC has provided counseling and mentorship, including the following:

Fish Scale, a Shaw-area based restaurant run by sister and brother duo, Chef Brandon Williams and Kristal Williams, which serves burgers sourced from sustainable wild fish.
The Village Café, a socially conscious restaurant founded by three D.C. natives, Mahammad Mangum, Kevon King, and Ryan William, based in the heart of the Union Market District, which provideslocally food and drinks sourced from underserved, aspiring entrepreneurs and creatives.
Solo Investment Group, a real estate development & investment firm, founded by Siem Abebe, specializing in renovating and developing luxury residential properties
Zane Networks, LLC (ZaneNet), founded by Alexandra Jellerette and Luigi Leblanc, which provides healthcare consulting, technology and staffing solutions to public and private organizations.

These companies came to the DCSBDC at a pivotal point in their development, and working with the DCSBDC, scaled their entrepreneurial dreams.   The DCSBDCImpact19 Campaign will highlight the impact the DCSBDC has had on these small businesses.  Carl Brown, State/Executive Director of the DCSBDC is excited to highlight businesses that are contributing to the economy of the District of Columbia.  "I am excited to launch this campaign.  Each of the companies had unique needs when they came to us, and we worked with them to find solutions for each of them.  It makes us proud to support emerging and growing businesses in the District."

About the DCSBDC:  The DCSBDC program is a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Howard University. For more than 30 years, the DCSBDC has supported individuals in starting, financing, growing and maintaining their businesses.  The DCSBDC also provides consulting, training, and tools for clients to implement best business practices, achieve profitability and sustainable growth.  From 2013 to 2018 in the District of Columbia alone, the DCSBDC has serviced close to 2100 clients, created 2,200 jobs, and helped its clients received $32M in loans.
