Discover Israel & Palestine in September: 10 days from £1995

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - July 18, 2019 - PRLog -- Lightline Pilgrimages has announced a new, 10-day holiday to Israel & Palestine, departing 16 September.  The group will be escorted throughout by Reverend Doug Spenceley of the Diocese of Peterborough.

The first three nights of the 'holy holiday' will be spent in a guesthouse close to the Sea of Galilee, where the fishermen, who became the Apostles (or 'fishers of men' as they were famously later referred to) first received their calling to serve.

Places visited will include the Sea of Galilee – with a cruise on a traditional-style boat – Nazareth – the town in which Jesus grew up, Cana (where Jesus reluctantly performed his first miracle, turning water into wine at a wedding ( he said "my time has not yet come), the site of the Sermon on the Mount and the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 with two fishes and five loaves, the Capernaum and the house of St. Peter.

Leaving Galilee on day four, the group will head south through the heart of the West Bank – learning about the occupation en route – and stopping in the city of Nablus to visit Jacob's Well, before visiting Tabgha.  After lunch, the group will visit Taybeh, the only 100% Christian village remaining in Palestine, before heading down to the River Jordan and the site believed to be close to where Jesus was baptised by John, to renew baptism vows.

Whilst in Bethlehem, the group will visit the Church of the Nativity, the Shepherds' Fields, as well as some remarkable institutions run by the Christian community of the 'little town', including the Holy Family Hospital, which provides western standard neo-natal care, and

and the International Centre Bethlehem Dar al Kalima college which were founded by The Revd Dr Mitri Raheb, pastor of the Christmas Church.

The final four nights will be spent in and around Jerusalem, with highlights including the Mount of Olives, the Gardens of Gethsemane – where Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss – the Western Wall, walking the Way of the Cross, Mount Zion and the Holy Sepulchre.

There will also be an excursion to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth visit Qumran , the site where the Dead Sea scrolls were said to have originated.
