Upper eyelid surgery or upper blepharoplasty has a variety of both aesthetic and functional benefits. This procedure is an out patient surgery that involves removing the excess skin of the heavy lid or hooded lid and stitching the closure along the crease of the eyelid.  The scar line may need to be extended out laterally into a crow's feet wrinkle for patients who have a significant amount of hooding or excess skin.

Patients usually start having this procedure in their mid 30s.  Not in every case would both eyes need this corrective surgery.  Some patients who have uneven eyes can have that addressed during the same time they are having blepharoplasty.  Our eyes are very unique and the surgeon must therefore master their technique to treat these variations skillfully with regards to the patient's ethnicity as well.
