Spring Clean is the Theme of Upcoming Earth Day Recycling Event in Georgia's Gwinnett County
Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Teams Up with Gwinnett County Solid Waste Management in Encouraging Neighbors to Declutter Ahead of Community Event at Gwinnett County Fairgrounds
Paper shredding – local residents and business owners can have sensitive documents securely shredded in bulk at no charge (five box limit)
Paint recycling/disposal (10-gallon limit)
Electronics recycling/disposal – most are free for recycling/disposal (EXCEPT TVs and monitors – which require a $15 cash fee for disposal per item and printers – which require a $5 cash fee for disposal per item)
Tire recycling/disposal (limit 8, dealer tires not accepted)
"Please bear in mind that we are expecting to process thousands of participants within a three-hour time span," said Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Program Manager, Sumner Gann. "We truly appreciate everyone's patience throughout the event, but – more than that – we ask our neighbors to consider volunteering for this event. The more people we have helping, the quicker we can serve our guests. Like all of our events, a strong turnout from volunteers is the key to its success. This event is right in line with Earth Day Network's designation of 2019 as a crucial year to protect species from extinction. Proper recycling and disposal are integral to the elimination of littering and illegal dumping – which negatively impact the natural habitats of our local wildlife. By taking part in our Earth Day event on April 13 – whether as a volunteer or as a participant – you'll play a role in protecting endangered species right here in Georgia, like the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker, Eastern Indigo Snake, Northern Long-Eared Bat and more."
Earth Day event volunteers will be asked to help direct traffic, greet neighbors, haul boxes of paper to the shredder, remove electronics or tires from vehicles and more. To register as a volunteer, interested parties are invited to visit https://www.gwinnettcounty.com/
