Testing Center Opens for Public Safety Job Seekers

LA CROSSE, Wis. & MILWAUKEE - March 19, 2019 - PRLog -- National Testing Network, Inc. (NTN), the leader in outsourced employment testing for public safety departments, announces a new testing location in Wisconsin, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, located at 308 16th Street North in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

This new testing location will offer online scheduling and payment of computer-based testing for entry-level firefighters, law enforcement officers, corrections officers, and emergency communications applicants applying for city, county, and state public safety agencies.

NTN's state-of-the-art online testing delivers examinations with video simulations that depict scenarios candidates would actually encounter while working in the position they are applying for. After viewing the scenarios, applicants are asked how they would respond in a particular situation. This video simulation testing has been proven to be more effective than traditional paper-and-pencil testing in helping public safety departments find applicants who are the best fit for the job.

With online testing, candidates see their score results immediately after completing the test, and public safety departments receive instantaneous score results once exams are completed. NTN provides public safety agencies with the most current applicant pool information and essential test score data so departments can quickly make good hiring decisions.

This testing site is the third NTN location established in Wisconsin. "Due to low unemployment and lack of candidate interest in public safety careers, departments are scrambling to adopt innovative best practices in recruitment and the use of sophisticated testing tools to successfully combat their challenges. Through the partnership with University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and our other Wisconsin testing partners in Milwaukee and Madison, we are thrilled to experience this expansion in Wisconsin and to have the infrastructure to offer Wisconsin fire and police departments our innovative recruitment support and test administration model, focused on candidate inclusion and removing candidate barriers," said National Testing Network President, Carl Swander, Ph.D.

When asked about the new partnership, the Testing Coordinator at University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, Criss Gilbert, stated, "As a public institution we perceive the partnership with National Testing Network as a logical step in increasing opportunities to University of Wisconsin La Crosse students and the citizens of Wisconsin. To meet the needs of community and the region, the UWL Testing Center provides comprehensive testing services that adhere to nationally recognized standards. This partnership epitomizes the Wisconsin Idea that education should impact people's lives beyond the classroom. Our mission is to promote emotional, academic, social, and cultural growth through outreach within an atmosphere of inclusivity. We strive to offer a superior testing experience for all who come to our test center. The partnership with NTN helps us accomplish that goal."

NTN is the sister company of Ergometrics & Applied Personnel Research, Inc., a human resource management firm with 37 years of expertise in testing public service professions.
