-- The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce works with area non profit groups, providing members with specialized forums, as well as marketing and development solutions. To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the internationally known Chowderfest, the Southern Ocean County Chamber had the restaurants who were competing in the event select from qualified non profit members who applied to be considered for the year's worth of outreach and donation from net proceeds of the 2018 event. David's Dream & Believe Cancer Foundation was selected and over the course of the past year was supported through auction donations, dedicated page and navigation on chowderfest.com website, extensive social media promotion on popular chamber platforms such as LBI Region and Chowderfest pages, donated print and digital advertising space, collaborated on the fall Dine Around event with chamber member restaurants, arranged for charity to sell and announce their 50/50 raffle at Chowderfest, as well as other call to actions that were dedicated to the partnership's success.
At the January 16 State of the Chamber event, Chowderfest Coordinator Todd Elasasser presented Founder David Caldarella and Executive Director Danielle Corso a ceremonial check representing the $10,000 donation that was given to the cancer foundation to assist with their mission. The Chowderfest Committee would like to thank all the members and attendees who made Chowderfest Weekend such as success, with special recognition to the restaurants who made the event possible. The 2018 restaurants included Chicken or the Egg, Country Kettle Chowda, Howard's Restaurant, Polly's Dock & Chowder House, Tucker's Tavern, Wally's, Bistro 14 Oyster Bar & Restaurant, Black Whale Bar & Fish House, Buckalew's Restaurant & Tavern, Lefty's Tavern, Ocean County College Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism Management Program, Stefano's Restaurant, Blue Water Cafe, Cuisine on the Green, Delaware Ave Oyster House, La Bamba Mexican Restaurant, Nancy's Barn Ireland, Sunny Rae's Kitchen Food Truck, and The Woo Hoo.
