| Four Peaks Elementary School Student Wins Spot as a Jr. Grand Marshall for the Fiesta Bowl ParadeDesert artwork portrays what fourth-grader loves about Arizona
By: Apache Junction Unified School District Savannah's art entry was part of an extension to an Arizona history lesson in Mrs. Kerri Mortenson's classroom. Students used resources in class to create art from the theme, "What Arizona Means to Me." Savannah's entry featured a desert landscape inhabited by native creatures that inhabit the area. "Savannah's artwork clearly illustrated her love of our desert and its wildlife," said Mrs. Mortenson. "We are all very proud of her, not only for her artistic talent, but also for representing Four Peaks in such an awesome way." Mrs. Mortenson submitted the artwork from all the students who participated in the project to Desert Financial and Savannah's entry was selected as one of 10 winners by the 2018 Annual Desert Financial Fiesta Bowl Parade Committee. Savannah received three VIP tickets to the Fiesta Bowl, a VIP parking pass, and a t-shirt. End
