Curtains Falls on Run Jordan Events for 2018 with Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon

AMMAN, Jordan - Dec. 9, 2018 - PRLog -- Amman, Jordan (December 2018) –  Under the patronage of HRH Prince Firas Bin Raad, the 14^th edition of the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon concluded successfully on Friday, December 7^th, with the participation of 3,000 runners across all race categories.

HRH Princess Dana Firas and HRH Prince Hashem Bin Firas attended the marathon and the awards ceremony, besides a number of VIPs including: H.E. Mr. Nasser Shraideh, Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Sahel Dodin CEO of Ayla Oasis Development Company, Aqaba Governor Mr. Saleh Al-Nasrat, the board members of Run Jordan, in addition to the local, regional and international runners and supporter.

Being the main athletic attraction in Aqaba, the race witnessed the participation of many foreigner professional and amateur runners from different countries in all of the race categories: 21km, 10km Fun Run and 4km Children's Race.

At the prize awarding ceremony, HRH Princes Dana Firas and H.E. Mr. Nasser Shraideh, Chief and Mr. Sahel Dodin crowned the winners with the presence of a number of VIPs and sponsors.

Male Overall: first place: Mohammad Abu Rizeq (1:06:58), Second place: Yousef Mousa (1:07:31), Third place: Bashar Rhayyel (1:09:18)

Female Overall: first place Hanoia Hasaballa (1:20:37), Second place Sabria Maradat (1:28:04), Third place: Chris Peeters (1:43:06)

Male wheelchair: First place: Ali Sawalmeh (1:14:34), Second place Raed Hwati (2:32:15), Third place Yousef Dalki (2:48:36)

Male Visually Impaired: First place Hassan Tayem (1:38:54), Second place Moath Tarifi (2:15:30)

The prize awarding ceremony was held and for the first time in ASEZA football field in Aqaba city, and featured many entertaining activities that filled the air with excitement and fun, it also offered guests an opportunity to enjoy the amazing weather of Aqaba in December.

Lina EL-Kurd, General Manager of Run Jordan thanked all those who are making the marathon a success with special thanks to all sponsors, media and volunteers. She also mentioned that this year and under the slogan "Run for a Cause", a portion of the proceeds will go to Al Thaghr Association for the disabled, to support their projects and programs that aim to empower the individuals with special needs, and engage them as an effective category in the local community.
