ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Oct. 17, 2018 - PRLog -- The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach is pleased to announce that April Rust, who was inducted as a new Rotary Club member of Flagler Beach this past May, received a Rising Star Award this week. April was presented with a Rising Star pin and certificate at the Flagler Beach Rotary Club's weekly meeting on Thursday, October 11th by Rotary District Governor Jeanette Loftus.

"April truly represents what Rotary is all about," said Jeanette. "She wanted to become a Rotarian so she could help other young people who have had the life changing experience with Rotary that she had," Jeanette added. In 2009, April was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Austria. Now, she is the RYE District 6970 ROTEX Coordinator. She is heavily involved with all things Rotary Youth Exchange both in our district and in the multi district organization. Her primary role includes managing a team of ROTEX leads (past youth exchange students who are leaders in the program) to achieve the objectives of the program, event management, volunteer management, executive communication, mentorship, training sessions and training curriculum development.

The RYE District 6970 was recognized with the Gold Certificate of Achievement at the 2018 North American Youth Exchange Network Conference. This is a top tier award, which indicates the RYE District 6970 program has distinguished itself at the very highest levels within Rotary. The program is in the top four of all exchange programs in North America.

"I will wear my pin proudly as a constant reminder of Rotary's influence on my life, and the calling to serve others and understanding that I am a part of something greater than myself," said April. "This is a reminder that we can collectively rise together through the power of goodwill and friendship, and we can work together to help our neighbors rise, both here and abroad," she added. April works in Palm Coast at Coastal Cloud as a Salesforce Certified Business Analyst. She credits the company for having high values and supporting the community by allowing her the flexibility to be involved in all she does.

The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach was chartered in November 1991 and currently has 47 members; we are part of Rotary District 6970. Program speakers typically address a variety of interesting and important topics. The membership is a group of local business and community leaders from the fields of business, law, education, real estate, and government; including those who have retired from successful pursuits in these fields. All are welcome and are included in all our social and civic activities. For information about joining the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach, please contact Cindy Dalecki at 386-566-3466.
