PRLog -- Erin Calvo-Bacci Candidate for State Senate in the 5th Middlesex District spoke before teens of Malden at their voting workshop which was held on Monday October 1, 2018. The event was put on by the Malden Youth Civics Council in conjunction with the Malden Teen Enrichment Center. The evening kicked off with a civics trivia game, a presentation on early voting, logistics of voting in November and discussion about the ballot questions. After discussion about the open positions and roles candidates representing Malden were invited to speak.
Calvo-Bacci introduced herself to the group by telling them she was born in Malden and had attended Cheverus, next door to the Teen Enrichment Center before moving with her family to Reading. "Thank you for this opportunity to speak I'm a small business owner and mother to three girls who have been involved in different campaigns with me just because I had to bring them along as the primary caregiver. I believe that is more important than ever for our youth to be involved because you are the future and so many legislative decisions impact you. As a small business owner I speak before teen groups such as Girl's Inc. and I spoke before high school students in Lynn, I'm always happy to speak about what I do and welcome more opportunities. "
After the formal presentation candidates were invited to stay so attendees could ask more questions, take pictures with the candidates and interview them for school. "I'm a wife, mother and small business owner who believes in being the change. I will continue to lead by example so my girls will be proud and know that every attempt at making a difference is an accomplishment and I encourage more people to lean in and engage."
