Follow on Google News | Devil's Corral Blasting New RoadNew road construction into the Devil's Corral Canyon begins today.
By: Devil's Corral LLC new road is being built to allow access to the lower parts of the property down to the lakes and springs for fishing, swimming and other recreational activities. Once this road is constructed it will allow the first access to the springs, lakes, canyons and the island since the 1912 when the first road was blasted by Kinsey Trout Farm. Construction of the new road will make Devil's Corral accessible for recreational activities like fishing, hiking, rock climbing, base jumping and exploring the beauty of the Snake River Canyons. The proprietor and manager of Devil's Corral LLC, George Panagiotou, has chosen the finest company in Idaho to work on building the access roads from the top to the bottom of the canyons, so the community can once again enjoy this natural wonder of the Magic Valley. Superior Blasting, a Boise company was selected to perform the delicate task to surgically blast the cliff with precision and yet to preserve the canyon's natural beauty. Devil's Corral canyon, is sculpted from the waters of the Bonneville and other floods, which have created these beautiful cliff formations, springs, lakes, an island, caves for exploring and rock cliffs for climbing. Preparation for the new road access began this week. This is undeniably a historical event. U.S. President William Taft issued the first Patent for Devil's Corral on June 3rd in 1912 to Alpha M. Kinsey. The Kinsey's dynamited the first road down into the canyon in order to bring the very first trout ever farmed in Idaho (at Devil's Corral Springs) to the market in Twin Falls. This is the first attempt after 106 years to create public access to the lower part of the canyon. Once the road is constructed it will allow access to the private property for pedestrians, hikers, climbers and with special permission swimming and overnight camping. About Devil's Corral: This land is in the middle of a publicly owned park, The Snake River Canyons Park. It is used for ORV's, hunting, horseback riding and other forms of recreation. Devil's Corral is a private property and we strive to improve and protect this wonderful natural resource of the beautiful Snake River Canyon.
