Induction brazing within less than 10 seconds demonstrated by UltraFlex Power Technologies

RONKONKOMA, N.Y. - Aug. 30, 2018 - PRLog -- UltraFlex Power Technologies - manufacturer of the most innovative digitally controlled induction heating solutions - has recently shared pictures and details on the induction brazing process for 4 different customer assemblies. The goal was to demonstrate the brazing results achieved when induction heating is used to replace traditional flame-based brazing.

The brazing was performed using UltraFlex 5-15 kW Induction Heater from the UltraHeat W series. This equipment is cost-effective, offers adaptive digital control and is capable of operating in a wide frequency range (10kHz – 400kHz).

Throughout the 4 tests completed, power between 4.09 kW and 5.49 kW had been used. The target temperature for the brazing was 840°F-850°F (448°C-454°C) and the Induction Heater achieved it without requiring specific environment or safety measures.

The brazing process was completed with perfect quality in between 8 and 18 seconds.

Based on the results from the tests, it was concluded that a 5 kW induction heating system would suffice to complete the brazing process for all parts. Also, for repeatability and clean results fixturing for the parts to be assembled was recommended.

The test results showed the time- and energy efficiency of induction heating for brazing purposes. They also proved that induction heaters could be easily tuned for best performance and manufacturing use, making them suitable for lean manufacturing objectives.
