Dealing with withdrawals is something that comes up in every recovery situation. Here is our short guide on making it through withdrawals as smoothly as possible.

BOSTON - July 18, 2018 - PRLog -- • Dealing with withdrawals

• Why this is a job for professionals

• Withdrawals are the mental and physical symptoms of reducing or stopping the intake of a drug.  Vomiting, the shakes, mood swings, loss of consciousness may be signs of withdrawal.  and Withdrawal symptoms can lead to death in many cases.  If someone you know is exhibiting symptoms of withdrawals, please call 911.

• If it happens at home, here's what to do

• When dealing with withdrawal, a person needs to stay warm and hydrated.  Plenty of Gatorade, Water, blankets and towels (for vomit) should be on hand to deal with withdrawal symptoms until you can get this person to a professional.

• What not to do

• Some of the biggest NoNos are administering more of the drug, leaving the person alone, or trying prescription medicine as it may react poorly. An additional NoNo that happens very frequently is people using the dramatized events of television to gain education on how to treat withdrawal. TV may be accurate in some sense, but most of the time, it can be detrimental.

• How to get more information

• The best place to get information about such a sensitive subject is consulting a professional. If that isn't an option, there are numerous online help forums and informational websites.  As always, seek credibility over availability.
