Okunola of Accord Party Runs For Osun State Governorship Elections - Part 2
Pade Okunola Declares 'Contract with Osun' And Explains HIs Seven-Point Agenda
In developing the seven-point contract with Osun people, background research shows that inequality suppresses too many potentials in Osun state across many industries. In the face of inadequacy, consider this practice as double punishment for some local governments, probably because they do not have a strong man in the center of power.
This is one of the poverty mindset issues that we are determined to address as we welcome new investments into Osun State. Our yardstick for measurement that we suggest for you is to watch the banks. When bank chief executives begin to have their guesthouses or better still, permanent offices in Osun State because they want to maximize the economic transformations in our state, you begin to realize that our policies are bearing the strong positive fruits that we target in a prosperous Osun State.
Technological transformation is high on our agenda. We are looking at this from three angles, including Digital Economy, E-Government, and Renewable Energy transformations. We have identified partners committed to exploiting the potentials of our youth to the extent that 'yahoo' boys will become 'Oroki' boys like the famous Silicon Valley and the profitable companies in the style of Amazon will emerge. The youth in Osun State must begin to run profitable world conglomerates from within our state as it is common in other parts of the world.
We must also reverse our disgraceful educational sector statistics. Twenty-ninth (29th) position out of thirty-six (36) places in modern-day Nigeria is cause for shame. There is no reason that our elementary schools' students who have 'opon imo' should not be sharing knowledge with their friends in other parts of the world. The only challenge is that they have 'opon imo' but no medium, particularly the Internet, to express and explore it. We know the answer, and we have formulated the solution to this problem.
Along with the problem of unequal distribution of teachers, their training and amenities, and salaries which we vow to solve, we will revolutionize our educational sector back to prime in this country, and restore the dignity of Osun people. If our forefathers did not invest dutifully in education, it is unlikely that I will be able to present myself before you today. Expect major transformations at every level of our educational sector. Respect for teachers will be a cornerstone strategy to improve education in Osun beginning with seeking their opinions on educational matters.
Allow me to touch briefly on the healthcare services. We found that similar problems such as non-payment of workers, unequal distribution of resources, and poor planning that face other sectors of the economy face the healthcare sector. Managing this part is easy. However, the innovation lies in the partnerships that we have forged to introduce excellent services running in tandem with our healthcare systems. We have identified ways of exploiting provisions within the National Insurance Health Care Scheme that previous governments did not pursue. This opportunity opens new vistas for well-equipped healthcare facilities that promote the value of what we currently have, and places Osun State as a player in healthcare tourism destination in our country.
Our agricultural sector and the area of Commerce will witness a revolution. To avoid being accused of bias, I am putting on a lot of restraint in talking about these industries because I am personally very active in these sectors. Those are in addition to my investments in the healthcare industry. I understand that the situation is very pathetic. However, I encourage you all to make sure that you collect your personal voter's card to usher in Pade Okunola of Accord Party as your governor so that you can witness wonderful changes in your lifetime.
More than thirty (30) years ago, teachers taught us that it is possible to preserve agricultural produce all year round and that this is the source of profitable business for farmers. Yet, that is still not possible in Osun State in 2018.
This position is not acceptable to me. This has been a personal pet project of mine. Now, it has come center-stage. When you make me the governor, what has been my personal story becomes a state of glory. Our farmers will regain the pride of place as the best that this country can produce. We are the land that made 'Cocoa House' possible and together, we will imagine and create greater legacies for our children.
So, arise everyone!
Finally, Pade Okunola is here with major transformations and 'Real Positive Change for Sustainable Development' in his wings to lift Osun people to soaring heights.
We are changing the dynamics of governance to give Osun people more input into how government runs by introducing consultative forums that guarantees accountability at all the levels of government. We will combine innovative technology with your innate business sense and industrious skills to jointly revolutionize our society. The PADE principles will convert your recent years of pain into a bliss of pleasurable and peaceful society, the envy of Nigeria.
