This Boutique Has Only One Dress
Life and style blog, SandraGabriel.com has launched a boutique with a twist, there's only one dress.
"One of my clients and mentor taught me that as an entrepreneur, everyday is a launch," says editor and branding consultant, Sandra Gabriel. "It's important to create something, get it out the door, collect the feedback, tweak your product and repeat the cycle," she adds.
Gabriel argues that brands often start their business by being over prepared with websites and logos and business cards and policies and procedures and a bunch of other stuff they may never have a need for.
"It's better you start small, put your stuff out there and let it take shape based on truth instead of being based on theory and your own assumptions that are normally drummed up in solitude."
Gabriel admits this tactic is a complete 180 from how she is accustomed to building a business, saying that clients typically approach her to do all the preparing and planning but then it's only a matter of time before the client changes everything.
"What I love about this model of building business is that it takes the pressure off of having to make everything perfect upfront and you're not overloaded with investing hundreds of hours of work on a product or service that may or may not be of value to anyone and that you will likely change within a year."
The online boutique is intended to grow over time with the addition of new clothing and accessories as well as books and selected items to decorate the home, but Gabriel says, that's all dependent on the needs of her audience.
"The last thing you want to do is start selling a bunch of stuff that people don't want or need," comments Gabriel. "And that's true whether you are selling a product or service."
