LONDON - April 18, 2018 - PRLog -- IT Services and Software are tipped to be the standout hotspots in technology merger and acquisition activity over the next 12 months, according to specialist news provider TMT Finance, which is reporting on over US$70 billion worth of deals either agreed or predicted for 2018.

Larger deals announced include German software firm Temenos Group AG's acquisition of FTSE 250-listed financial software firm Fidessa PLC for £1.4bn; US buyout firm Leonard Green Partners' purchase of British intellectual property software business, CPA Global for £2.4bn; French business Schneider Electric's E3bn merger with British software firm Aveva Group; an HgCapital-led consortium's swoop for Nordic software firm Visma, valued at US$5.3bn; and Elliott Management Corp's US$1.6bn deal for US network software firm Gigamon.

"According to TMT Finance deal data, at least 110 deals have taken place or are currently taking place in the IT services and software sector over the last six months globally – around 70% of which we started reporting on in Q1 this year, which suggests 2018 will be especially active for investment and M&A in this space," said Yedda Wang, Asia and Americas Editor, TMT Finance.

"We also anticipate seeing more mid-sized investment by Asian strategic players in niche software verticals, such as AI software or healthcare, with the more traditional IT services areas still often dominated by US or Indian companies," Wang added.

To discuss the key deal drivers in this space, 250 senior executives, investors and advisers active in Tech M&A are joining the annual Tech M&A Forum 2018 in London on May 23, including on a dedicated panel on IT Services and Software infrastructure, which includes: Alexandre Menais, Head of M&A at E12bn-valued French IT services giant Atos; Edward Charvet, CSO, Logicalis, a global solutions provider with revenues of over US$1.5bn; Gagan Singh, SVP and GM, Mobile, Avast, a Czech Republic-based cybersecurity company worth US$4bn; as well as a key adviser in the sector, Roger Spitz, MD - Head of US TMT M&A at BNP Paribas.

There will also be two dedicated Visionary Keynote Speeches on the topic of Software and IT Services, by Kieran Godwin, Global Director, Mergers & Acquisitions, SoftwareONE; and Marvin Meyer, VP and Head of M&A EMEA, Software AG.

Other companies represented at Tech M&A Forum 2018 include: SoftBank Vision Fund, SAP, Gemalto, Cinven, Bain Capital, UBS, Raymond James, Blippar, Brandwatch, Moneycorp, Finastra, Rovio, MMC Ventures, Marlin Private Equity and Societe Generale.

Tech M&A Forum 2018 is part of the two day TMT M&A Forum 2018, taking place on May 22-23.
