How to make Take Your Dog To Work Day® a success
Event creator Pet Sitters International offers a free toolkit and encourages businesses to start planning now for the 20th annual event on Friday, June 22.
Businesses interested in participating in TYDTWDay® can download PSI's free 2018 Take Your Dog To Work Day® Toolkit at petsit.com/toolkit.
"Each year for the past two decades, many businesses—even those not traditionally pet friendly—have opened their doors to employees' dogs for TYDTWDay," explained PSI President Patti Moran. "Our toolkit is extremely helpful for businesses that may need tips and ideas for planning their event."
The 2018 Take Your Dog To Work Day Toolkit is a planning guide for participants and provides step-by-step instructions for planning an office event, a sample dogs at work policy and customizable event forms. The toolkit also shares event best practices such as working with local animal shelters, rescue groups and professional pet sitters.
Created by PSI in 1999, TYDTWDay encourages employers to experience the joys of pets in the workplace for one special day to celebrate the great companions dogs make and promote adoptions from local shelters, rescue groups and humane societies.
In a recent survey of more than 1,000 pet owners conducted by PSI, 82 percent of respondents indicated they felt pets reduce stress in the workplace and 63 percent felt pets increased collaboration between employees. Nearly 80 percent also viewed a pet-friendly policy as an employee benefit.
"While large companies from Google and Amazon to Kimpton and Salesforce are known for their pet-friendly policies, TYDTWDay is an opportunity for businesses of all sizes to allow dogs at work for a fun day and a great cause," explained Beth Stultz, PSI vice-president and TYDTWDay spokesperson.
This year's Take Your Dog To Work Day campaign is bolstered by the support of 2018 sponsors Embrace Pet Insurance, "I and love and you" and Kurgo®.
"As we celebrate 20 years of dogs at work for a 'paws-itive' cause, we expect even greater participation in this year's TYDTWDay," added Stultz.
Businesses, pet owners and pet-care professionals interested in learning more about TYDTWDay are encouraged to download the 2018 Take Your Dog To Work Day®Toolkit at petsit.com/toolkit (https://www.petsit.com/
