Follow on Google News | Community Collaboration on the Menu at Tampa Bay Charity Coalition LuncheonThe bi-monthly Charity Coalition Luncheon at the Church of Scientology's Fort Harrison religious retreat helps non-profits step up to a brighter future.
By: Church of Scientology FSO The event will start with a buffet lunch and live entertainment at 11:30. Following the lunch will be a presentation on a brand new resource for area charities, to aid in their expansion. Following this, guests will be encouraged to mingle and make new contacts. "Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote that 'A community that pulls together can make a better society for all' and we, as a community, have a unique opportunity to do that here in Pinellas County," said Dylan Pires, the Community Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology. "A wide range of groups participate in the lunch – groups that help children, that raise awareness of environmental issues, that support the arts, that help the homeless get back on their feet – it is a very diverse group," added Mr. Pires. Previous speakers have included actress and activist Kelly Preston and nearly 200 non-profit and charitable groups have participated since the founding of the Coalition in 2014. The Fort Harrison, home to the Coalition, has provided charitable support since construction completed in late 1926. Historical records and media stories since 1927 show a wide variety of fundraisers and charity events at the facility. The event is open to any executive from a non-profit or any board members from a non-profit. There is no cost to attend. If you are interested in receiving an invitation to the event, please contact Mr. Pires at 727-467-6860.
