Tom Clynes Receives the NAGC 2017 Community Service Award

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Nov. 9, 2017 - PRLog -- The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) announced that Tom Clynes will receive the 2017 Community Service Award at the NAGC 64^th Annual Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, November 9-12, 2017.

Tom, a keynote speaker, journalist and author, was selected, according to NAGC, "because his writing has helped bring the needs of gifted children to the public's attention."

"NAGC is committed to providing opportunities and resources to better understand and serve all gifted and talented children," said M. René Islas, NAGC Executive Director. "The awards program shines a light on those who are making a difference in supporting gifted children as they reach to achieve their personal best."

Islas said that Mr. Clynes's book, The Boy Who Played with Fusion, in particular, "raised public awareness and created a sense of urgency about meeting the needs of our gifted learners." The book tells the story of Taylor Wilson, who became the youngest person to build a functioning nuclear fusion reactor and who then continued creating and innovating in important ways.
