Playwrites New Play Catalog reads like a Theatrical Aphrodisiac!

LAS VEGAS - Oct. 25, 2017 - PRLog -- If you hadn't noticed, television has taken on a new look.  The images that fill your screen currently belong to thespians that are mostly under 40 years of age.  Makes sense, television is a highly technical medium but in the world of live community theatre, there too has been a change and the charge is being led by playwright Floyd Stephen Alexander.    Mr. Alexander has targeted millennials to be his target audience and has structured his latest body of work with them in mind. "One's appreciation of live theatre usually begins in one's community, so performances that truly connect with the audiences of High School and Community theatres are very important."  Mr. Alexander definitely has a valid point, Millennials, born between 1980 and 2000 overtook baby boomers as the largest segment of the U.S. population in 2015.  Young people have always rolled their eyes at the received wisdom of the olds, but now they've got numbers on their side.  He believes his "fresh voice" defines him as a major challenger in the theatrical arena. This electrifying talent is definitely not new to the theatrical scene; Mr. Alexander graduated from Upsala College with a B.A in Theatre and Speech Communications.  He has also studied at HB Studios, New York, New York and attended both San Diego City College and San Diego State University, concentrating on performance.  He has performed in more than a dozen professionally staged works and has had seven of his own works presented.

His works express his powerful desire to facilitate a free exchange of ideas so indicative of the times we live in. "What I desire is to have theatres take a look at the catalog and choose their best fit.  All of my works have been audience tested and have been proven to be quite audience pleasing.  It is my desire not to create discomfort but offer a different avenue for those who want to by-pass Samuel French."

His current catalog consists of eight offerings:

Baldwin: Portrait of A Writer. A blatant look at racism, literature is challenged by the Black Experience, James Baldwin's early life from a preacher's son to a radical novelist during the turbulent decade of race and sexuality.  "We've had enough glimpses into the meager lives of Uncle Tom and Little Black Sambo" says Baldwin in the play Baldwin:  Portrait of A Writer.

Dracula, set in Victorian England, still tender and sensual.  Wolfman, which now comes to us as an American folktale set in 1940's Mississippi and Edgar Allen Poe, taking a look at the master of the macabre, we learn about the man instead of the myth.  Three classic tales of terror, morte, and human tragedy comes in three words:  Dracula, Wolf Man and Edgar Allan Poe.

Here I Am, seven women voicing trials and tribulations. Though they are different they are the same.

Oped, Gritty, urban poetry reflecting the mean ghetto streets sung in Gangsta Rap confronts cynical humor in editorial satire that transports two men on a destructive path.

Two Cut Glass,.  Movie mogul Jack Morris is a dream maker and could have continued doing so, if he didn't discover he had a conscious. But the sounds and furies of Hitler's rise in Germany makes Morris risk personal ruin to make a film alerting the American public to this tyrannical specter.  Hollywood answers the call to alert the people.

The dramatic answer to the hit musical Hamilton is Scribes.  Scribes follows James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay as they struggle to carve out a path to freedom and independence for a new nation in penning the American Constitution.
