WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Oct. 11, 2017 - PRLog -- National Physical Therapy Month is celebrated each October to recognize how physical therapists and physical therapist assistants help transform society by restoring and improving motion in people's lives. However, transforming lives does not stop at the clinic, we also reach out to our communities and look for ways to give back. This October, HD Physical Therapy is thrilled to recognize National PT Month by participating in the movement called "Global PT Day of Service," on Saturday, October 14th.

Global PT Day of Service (PTDOS) began as a thought that, what if, on the same day, clinicians, students and associated staff of the physical therapy profession volunteered in different communities all around the world? What if, they then shared those moments and acts in a way that was galvanizing, inspiring and promoted connections all over the world? PTDOS would give the physical therapy community the unique chance to unite and contribute to something that would impact the lives of everyone involved.

HD Physical Therapy chose the Wakefield Alliance Against Violence (WAAV) charity 5k road race, "Racing to End Domestic Violence," as our service site, working with Amy Rando, the president of WAAV. Their goal is to raise awareness and provide resources to victims of domestic and dating violence. All proceeds from the event go to the WAAV and their goal of ending violence in our community.

The race event will be held on Saturday the 14th. Registration begins at 7:30am at the Lakeside Inn. The race starts at 9:00am and travels around Lake Quannapowitt. HD Physical Therapy will sponsor a portion of the charity road race, plus some staff members will actually be running, while others will be cheering on the crowd!

"Global PT Day of Service provides an amazing opportunity for our HDPT family to join together and give back to our Wakefield community. It's always extremely rewarding to be able to help our neighbors," said Glenn D'Addario, MSPT, DPT, HD Physical Therapy's co-founder.
