Novo Introduces Custom CNC Vertical Broach to the Firearms Market

BRISTOL, Conn. - June 12, 2017 - PRLog -- Novo Precision, manufacturer of equipment and services for the wire industry, has introduced their very own Vertical CNC Broach.  The Novo broach is truely a Turnkey System that is ideal for the broaching of pistol barrel blanks.  Novo hopes to market their system across the firearms industry as they see a need for a more lean designed machine then what is out there.

The system came about in the spring of 2015 when Novo started making very high end pistol barrel blanks for the aftermarket and for premium 1911 manufacturers.  "We assessed what was available on the market and thought we could come up with a better solution." says William Hazard, President of Novo Precision.  There were 3 main issues with the standard broach on the market according to Hazard.

-conventional broaches were very large

-appeared overkill for the application

-lacked lean / flexible design

So Novo's engineers and Machine Build department went to work to build the best possible broach for the situation.  The result was one of the first Servo driven vertical CNC broach that was specifically designed for pistol barrels or smaller part broaching.  Over the last two years Novo has run production through the broach as it has been a workhorse on the shop floor.  Through this they have made many changes to increase efficiency, fine tune quality of the finished part and analyze what additional features were needed.

The finished product that they are putting out to market come complete with the following specifications:

-small footprint (38"W x 48.5" D x 69.5" H)

-robust frame and tool holder design

-length of pull up to 24 inches

-4000 lbs pull capacity

-5 Micron broaching oil filtration system

-servo driven gives ultimate flexibility

The Vertical CNC Broach also comes standard with a touch flat screen PLC Interface for 1 touch changeover for changing pull speed, twist ratio/speed, rotation direction and pull speed ramping. "The touch screen really makes changing over models and speeds so simple" adds Sherwood Griffing, VP of Business Development and Sales.  "The technology we have developed in our broach is heads and shoulders above what is out on the market" continues Griffing.

Novo really lets the customer build out the options they require for their production.  The standard vertical cnc broach can have additional features built on to include a broach tool retrieval system, tool chip clean off, light curtain and optional casters with lock leveling pads for portability.  "We will continue to evolutionize these machines based off the industry and customer feedback.  We will continue to improve our machines to be solutions to our customers production issues" states Griffing.
