OAKTON, Va. - April 27, 2017 - PRLog -- Mosaic Harmony, an award winning interfaith, multicultural community choir, is pleased to announce their 2017 spring fundraising concert themed "Now Is The Time!" in celebration of 23 years of service to the Washington metropolitan area, will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 7:00pm. The concert will also mark director David K North's 20th anniversary with the choir.

The concert will be held at Reston Community Center (Hunters Woods), 2310 Colts Neck Road in Reston, VA. Each year the choir introduces new songs to their audience, and, features a few favorites from previous seasons in front of what is expected to be another capacity audience. Over the past 22 seasons, the annual concert has occasionally featured local area gospel artists who are nationally known and who bring the spirit of what Mosaic Harmony endeavors – to unify the world one song at a time.  The compilation of songs performed range from traditional and contemporary African-American gospel selections to original music written by their dynamic and talented director David K. North. The highlight of their choral season, it is the group's largest fundraising effort, coupled with a 100 ticket raffle, with the winner being able to select from four distinct land vacation packages for two people and winners need not be present to win.

Mosaic Harmony's concerts are high-energy, inspiring performances that leave their audiences feeling uplifted and encouraged.  Bringing together people of diverse cultures, ages, backgrounds, and more than 25 faith traditions to celebrate humanity, is Mosaic Harmony's vision to be a source of inspiration on a local, national, and global level.  The theme of the 2016-2017 season has been about continuing to bridge harmony and partnerships, clearly aligning the mission and vision of Mosaic Harmony.  In 2011, a short documentary filmed by Perfect Bind Productions' LeeAnn Dance was completed and is available on the choir's website homepage. as well as clips from the choir's three CD's.  This season, the choir returned to the recording studio to work on a compilation of songs, which will feature Mosaic Harmony and three other Northern Virginia community choruses – the Olam Tikvah Chorale, Los Quetzales Choir, and the NOVA Japanese Choir. The four choirs participated in a concert on June 12, 2016 "Friends in Harmony" with the accompanying CD given to attendees, which is the result of a generous 2015 Project Grant to Mosaic Harmony from the Arts Council of Fairfax County intended to illustrate the broad diversity of Fairfax County's population.

During the past twenty-plus years, the choir has performed for the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration programs at the Washington Hospital Center, Holy Cross Hospital, a holiday performance in 1999 on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, four consecutive performances at the Pentagon, festival performance at Mary Washington College, a record fourteen consecutive performances at Mt. Zion Methodist church in Hamilton, Virginia, performances at DC Intersections, Family Matters of DC, and at the headquarters of Discovery Communications in Silver Spring, MD for Black History Month. Additionally, the choir has assisted groups in raising tens of thousands of dollars for various charities including Coats for Kids, Capital Hospice, Buganda University, the Brain Tumor Foundation, the Lakota Nation and Habitat for Humanity, as well as many other notable charitable causes. Their performances have provided encouragement, inspiration and hope to families in hospice care, residents of mental health facilities, residents living in retirement communities, and to the public.

Mosaic Harmony members prepare the entire season for their spring concert and often members who took sabbaticals for the season return to volunteer as spring concert staff.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids 2 to 12 and are available via Eventbrite. In addition, sponsorship opportunities for the concert are available ranging from $250 to $7500.  For more information on the choir, booking a concert and upcoming concerts, visit the website at www.mosaicharmony.org
