During the summer they ran a formal organized program designed to help men grow personally and spiritually. The program requires men commit for for a total of 12 weeks, and Anvil had great success running the program over the summer. For most Christian churches the late summer early fall is when attendance typically picks up. The ending of summer vacations, and children returning to school help families get back into a regular rutine again. When Anvil was preparing to do the program again in the fall there were not enough men available to do it practically. Many of the men that attended through the summer went back to school, or moved. As expected with reaching out to men in their early 20's. Anvil Ministries did continue on with regular weekly meetings for men that could attend. They hit a record low for attendance in January, and that gave them a opportunity to make some needed changes. In Febuary Anvil put out some feelers to see where the interest was. What they found was that most men we're more interested in hanging out together than anything else. So the last Friday of the month they invited men to poker, dinner, and beer. Local pastor Frank Shelter of Anthology Church said "It was a great turn out, and I think all the men had a great time." Although not all of Anvils's Christian brothers agreed providing beer was a good thing. "I know it's a little controversial, but no one is getting drunk. Some men just want to have a beer or two with dinner, and play some poker." Frank explained. Although Anvil is balancing on a fine line by reaching out to men, and providing beer they continue to do all they can to build relationships with men in the local Comunity. David Walker the Founder of Anvil Ministries had this to say "If men are gathering together, and building relationships without sinning that's a great thing. I hope we can continue to let this build some momentum for us as we move forward. That way when men are ready for that next step with Christ, Anvil and the men they have built relationships will be there." Anvil Ministries is countinuing on in building those relationships by having a fun event the last Friday of every month. Dinner, games and beer are available. If you or a man you know would like to come you can reach out to David and reserve your spot. Anvil Ministries officially launched in May of 2016. Anvil empowers men to find their strength through discovery, and restoration. They focus on the discipleship of men through embracing masculinity. Anvil's goal is getting men to not just understand authentic masculinity, but to live it out practically.
