Children's Hunger Fund Wraps over 175,000 Toys for Children in Need

Thousands of participants prepared gifts for children across the country

SYLMAR, Calif. - Dec. 12, 2016 - PRLog -- Children's Hunger Fund announces today that 176,920 toys were wrapped this year for children in need during America's Toy Wrap. Nearly 4,000 volunteers donated their time during seven events hosted in four major cities across the U.S.

Dave Phillips, president and founder of Children's Hunger Fund, began hosting America's Toy Wrap over 20 years ago. "It is astounding to think what nearly 177,000 toys symbolize," says Phillips. "Each one represents a child in need, whose life will be impacted. When these gifts are delivered by a volunteer from their own community, children have an opportunity to know how cared for and loved they are."

The events took place in Los Angeles, Dallas, San Antonio, and Chicago, and were free to the public. America's Toy Wraps were made possible due to donations of plush toys from Ty Inc. and Disney. Currently, the wrapped toys are being distributed to local charities, community groups, and local churches to be delivered to children in need just in time for Christmas.

Frank Mastrolonardo, Regional Director of the West for Children's Hunger Fund, experienced America's Toy Wrap for the first time this year in Los Angeles. "I am amazed by what was accomplished by the team here," says Mastrolonardo. "We've also seen an outpouring of support for these events, and are encouraged by the response." This sentiment was echoed throughout the nation at the other site locations.

As part of America's Toy Wrap, participants collected and brought change to the event in a Coin Pak. Children's Hunger Fund is able to deliver a meal to a child for just 25 cents. The Coin Pak program continues throughout the year. For more information on Project Coin Pak, visit www.ChildrensHungerFund.org/CoinPak.

Founded by Dave Phillips in 1991, Children's Hunger Fund has served the needs of suffering children for twenty-five years. The charity has distribution centers in Dallas, Chicago, San Antonio and at its headquarters in Los Angeles. At each center, bulk food is packed by volunteers into "Food Paks" (a 20-pound box of nutritious food). Food Paks are distributed to millions of children and families in need throughout the U.S. and around the world. For more information visitwww.childrenshungerfund.org
