Children's Hunger Fund Responds to Guatemala Volcanic Disaster with Aid

Los Angeles, June 5, 2018 - Children's Hunger Fund is responding to the recent volcanic  eruption from Guatemala's Fuego Volcano (Volcano of Fire). The disaster has taken the lives of at least 70 people, with the death toll expected to climb, and 1.7 million Guatemalans have been displaced from their homes.

Through a Mercy Network of established partnerships, which includes 26 churches in Guatemala, Children's Hunger Fund will respond immediately with aid to families in shelters and on the streets. CHF partners provide immediate needs of food, water, hygiene items, blankets, diapers, disposable medical equipment, and clean-up equipment.

In addition to the immediate relief efforts, CHF partners are preparing to respond to the on-going needs of the Guatemalan people after the first responders leave the scene through a strategic plan for long-term relief.
