-- The very first SantaCon in America happened in San Francisco in 1994. And now there's one coming to Allentown, PA. Scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 2-5pm, it all starts off at the PPL Center. Santas will gather there beginning at 1:45pm. Participating restaurants include Brew Works, Bell Hall, Centro, Chickie's & Pete's, The Dime, 99 Bottles, .grain, Hamilton Kitchen and Queen City BBQ.
Held worldwide in the month of December, SantaCons are gatherings of people dressed as Santa and partaking in a pub crawl. In lieu of participation fees, the Allentown Restaurant Association will be collecting canned good and monetary donations at the start of the event which will be distributed to local food pantries. Each canned good brought by a Santa will enter them into a raffle for prizes.
To enjoy SantaCon, participants should come dressed appropriate to the theme which is, of course, Santa. You do not have to come dressed exactly as Santa, but participates should be dressed in RED. Unusual interpretations of Santa are appreciated and Christmas trees, reindeer, and elves are all acceptable. Santas are also encouraged to bring presents such as small toys, gifts, candy canes, etc. And, while this is a pub crawl, Santas are discouraged from being drunk or disorderly in public. Drinking and driving is strictly prohibited.
