By: Max & Louie Productions A moving portrait of Holiday's struggles with addiction, racism, love and loss, "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill" is a testament to her ability to mine humor from hardship and to the transformative power of song. Show stopping musical numbers such as "God Bless the Child," "Strange Fruit," and "What A Little Moonlight Can Do" are interlaced with salty, often humorous, reminiscences to project an unforgettable portrait of the lady and her music. "We are so pleased to bring to St. Louis audiences, the dynamic Alexis J. Roston, who will reprise her Chicago Joseph Jefferson Award-winning role as Lady Day," said Max & Louie Productions' artistic director Stellie Siteman. "Acclaimed pianist, composer and arranger Abdul Hamid Royal brilliantly complements Ms. Roston as Billie's accompanist." "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill" will be presented at the Kranzberg Arts Center, located in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Building in Grand Center (501 North Grand Ave) February 17 through March 4, 2017. Performances will run Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. There will be one matinee on Saturday, March 4th at 4:00 pm.
