By: Rotary Club of Flagler Beach "Our treasurer Sean Palmer thought of the idea and we loved it," said Tim O'donnell, a Past Rotary President, current director, and the anniversary initiative's coordinator. The effort started on October 13, with the club's annual Project Share Christmas gift registration. Members and volunteers registered approximately 1,100 children to receive gifts this holiday season. Other activities that are planned during the 25 days include: Collecting food for the club's Project Share Food program, Making a donation for World Polio Day on Oct. 24th, Distributing food to 250 families in Pierson, FL, Hosting a Trunk-or-Treat Halloween event at the Carver Gym in Bunnell, Participating in 5Ks to support the USO and Florida Hospital's Breast Cancer efforts, donating blood, selling burgers, sausages and funnel cakes at First Friday in Flagler Beach to raise money for the Project Share Christmas and Food programs, Participating in a Rotary Club of Palm Coast poker run to support the Whispering Meadows Equine Therapy Ranch in Flagler Beach, and much more! The club is inviting local companies, other organizations and individuals to sponsor one, or more, of their "25 Days" for $100. The anniversary initiative will culminate on Tuesday, November 8th (the club's actual anniversary) Project Share, the official service project of Rotary Club of Flagler Beach, this month increased the amount of monthly groceries they supply from 85 families in Pierson, to 250 by partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and Grace Food Pantry. The club has been assisting families in need in Pierson and in Flagler County since 2000. Project Share also provides Christmas toys, clothing and bicycles for over 1,000 children at Christmas. The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach handled logistics, provided the volunteers, and worked to identify the families that received the food.
