Press Invitation to International Writers Workshop in San Diego

SAN DIEGO - Oct. 19, 2016 - PRLog -- This is an invitation to credentialed food, wine and travel reporters on assignment for magazines, blogs, newspapers and radio. The conference planning committee thought your food, wine and lifestyle readers might enjoy reading about one or more of the following International Wine Food and Travel Writers Association's (IFWTWA) workshops being held at the IFWTWA 2016 Annual Conference on October 31, 2016 at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort, in Coronado, CA.

Briefly, the event will feature over 7 educational sessions/ workshops on food, wine, publishing and social media. The event is designed to help attendees rapidly evaluate, implement and maximize skills and information needed to promote their journalism efforts. Speakers include representatives from the O.C. and San Diego Chefs community, marketing guru Jennifer Thompson, wine expert Hilarie Larson, the SoCal Restaurant show's host Andrew Harris, and many more.

IFWTWA is offering credentialed reporters a one-day press pass so they can cover any/all of the workshops. Workshop Schedule

9:30 a.m. - Keynote presentation: Jennifer Thompson, Internet Marketing professional. Title: "A Brand and a Book for the Savvy Journalist." 40 minutes with questions.

10:30 a.m. to noon - Chefs' Panel, organized and moderated by SoCal Restaurant radio host Andrew Harris. Chef participants are as follows:

Maitre Cuisiners de France. Author of Two Chefs, One Catch. Dean of French Chefs in San Diego County. Maeve Rochford, Proprietress, Sugar & Scribe Bakery Cafe, La Jolla. Winner of Food Network's, "Holiday Baking Championship" and a cool $50,000 cash prize!

1 – 2 p.m. - Advanced SM session conducted by Chef Andrew Gruel

1 – 2 p.m. - Basic SM session conducted by blogger IFWTWA Social Media Director Mary Lansing

2 – 3 p.m. - "Understanding the Language of Wine" — Hilarie Larson

2-3 p.m. - "Publishing in 2016: How to find outlets in a changing market." Susan Lanier-Graham

3 to 4 p.m. - Tourism panel of 4 national tourism representatives. Topics may include:

"How to be an effective participant on a media trip."

"How to work with a tourism organization to plan an effective media trip."

"How to be an attractive applicant for a media trip."
