By: Ballethnic Dance Company Adam L. McKnight, the vocalist along with Nena Gilreath and Waverly Lucas, Ballethnic Co-founders, create a performance story that details their longevity as professional artists and the influence that Soul music has on their careers. The music guides the thread of stories through a soul stirring production that showcases artists such as Luther Vandross, James Brown, Natalie Cole, Maurice White and Prince to name a few. McKnight will also present original music all accompanied by the band Groove Park. This fast past production will take the audience on a journey of emotions while inspiring and providing motivation. Ballethnic will lend its sought after blend of African and Ballet choreography ending in a breath taking finale to the critically acclaimed tune Determination written by McKnight. McKnight and Gilreath and Lucas reunited back in 2013 performing their signature duet "Somewhere Out There" as they performed it on tour with the Heartstrings Benefit for Aids back in 1989. It had been many years but they resumed their partnership as if a day had not passed. Their reunion provided a sense of new purpose that inspired them to work together to promote and preserve R&B and Soul Music and accenting that with high level dance performances. Since then Adam has been a guest artist opening Urban Nutcracker with his signature dynamic soul Sound, as well as performing during the annual Open House for Ballethnic Academy of Dance. Ballethnic and Adam have collaborated to produce intimate evenings of music and dance at Ballethnic's Cheney Studio in East Point, Georgia. In the future the Ballethnic Cofounders and McKnight are looking to continue to produce high level music and dance productions in metropolitan Atlanta and on tour.
